Eyeshadows – most of us avoid them because we don’t entirely know how to use them. When applied incorrectly can do more harm than good. However, if you learn to apply your eye make-up then you can beautifully emphasize them and gain a new effect is make-up.

At first, everyone thinks that the application of eyeshadows is nothing hard. Why rules and pointers since you just need to choose the color, take some of the products and apply it to the eye. However, it then turns out that something is off. The effect is not what we would expect it to be – the eyes seem to be smaller or sadder. The incorrect eyeshadow application is to blame here.

It is time to learn difficult eye make-up art. How to apply eyeshadow to make the eyes look good and to open the eye? Here’s the instruction in a few simple steps.

How to prepare eyes for the make-up?

A frequently made mistake when it comes to eye make-up is the application of cosmetics to unprepared eyelids. The start is an eyeshadow base that can make everything easier. Such cosmetic:

  • prevents eyeshadow from falling,
  • eyeshadows stay on for longer and the effect lasts longer,
  • you need less product for the same effect,
  • the pigmentation is better and the color more expressive,
  • it is easier to apply and spread the product,
  • protects against gathering in the crease.

The base can be a pinch of foundation or concealer to even out the skin. However, the best effect is provided by a special eyeshadow base.

EYE MAKE-UP STEP BY STEP

1. Apply the eyeshadow base.

How to correctly apply the base onto the eyelids? Most of all, you need to apply it to the entire upper eyelid – all the way up to eyebrows. Do not worry that the eyelid will be brighter than the skin, you will still have to follow it with eyeshadows. It is important for the skin to be even and slightly moisturized because most primers contain moisturizing and nourishing components.

2. Apply the base color to the eyelid.

It is time for the base color, i.e. the brighter one out of the chosen trio (remember that eye make-up looks best when you use three colors). You need to apply it to the entire eyelid up to the crease. It can subtly go past it if you want to open the eye, but you shouldn’t overdo it – between the eyebrows and the eyeshadow needs to be a free space.

3. Apply darker eyeshadow in the corner.

Taking darker and darker out of the chosen eyeshadows you should apply them step by step to the external eye corner to make the eye more open. The middle color should reach half of the eyelids corner and the darkest one in the very corner. The dark eyeshadows can be blended gently at the crease or above it (if you have droopy eyelids), but the concentration of the color should be on the external eye corner.

4. Eyeshadow on the lower eyelid.

The lower eyelid is treated the same way: the first one to the entire eyelid, up to the middle of the eyelid apply the medium eyeshadow and the darkest in the external corner. You can extend the darkest color outside the eye corner to create a naturally longer eye line.

5. Highlighting the inner eye corner and eyelid.

To finish up, you should reach for something bright and highlighting. White, light beige, or pearl eyeshadow applied to the inner eye corner to make the look fresher. On the other hand, you can apply the highlighting eyeshadow or the glitter alone in the middle of the eyelid if you want to add some spark to your make-up.

6. Draw a line with eyeliner and apply mascara.

The last steps are outside the work with eyeshadow but it matters a lot in make-up. We talk about eyeliner and mascara. Eyeliner is optional especially because you can do it also with eyeshadow. The most important are eyelashes because even the best eye make-up won’t look good without the mascara on. Finishing up the make-up is about those few strokes of mascara but also about adding decorations, e.g. festive make-up.
