Acne affects not only the face but also other parts of the body. The pimples are likely to appear on the back, neck and shoulders, regardless of age and gender. If you also have such problems, you should eliminate the factors that cause them as soon as possible.

Acne on the body – causes

Acne on the back, arms and neck is formed in the same way as the one on the face. How? By clogging of the hair follicles through the dead epidermis, sebum and dirt. This way, inflammatory conditions arise which may be exacerbated by the following factors:

  • bad hygiene – sweat and sebum increase inflammation and cause new imperfections,
  • tight clothing, artificial materials and carrying a backpack for too long – these factors can contribute to irritation and the spread of bacteria,
  • changing bedding and towels to rarely – bacteria that cause acne and even staphylococcus multiply
  • improper care – the use of poorly-chosen cosmetics or products not suited to the needs of the skin.

That’s how you can overcome acne on your back, neck and shoulders

Dermatological treatment is of high importance when it comes to acne skin. However, good habits are just as important.

1. Skin care

Daily shower will solve most of your acne problems. Remember to use mild cleansing products and be careful no to leave hair washing products on the skin for too long. Skin exfoliation is the next crucial step in your care. This way, you will remove impurities, sebum and dead skin cells that contribute to the formation of blemishes. Choose a scrub with small particles or an enzymatic peel.

2. Cleanliness around you

In the treatment of acne, what your clothes are made of is also very important. Choose those that are made of airy and natural materials. If you play sports, always make sure to wear breathable clothing. Also, pay more attention to how often you put on your backpack. A much better solution would be carrying a shoulder bag or a bag in your hands. Moreover, it is also very important to regularly change and wash towels and bed linen. That’s the environment where bacteria that can multiply and increase acne. Use fragrance-free detergents and high-temperature water for washing.

3. Do not sunbathe

Although the sun will alleviate acne for a while and dry up inflammation, it will work completely differently in the long run. Over time, the skin will begin to flake off and the amount of sebum produced will increase. New blemishes, pimples and blackheads will appear and it might even spread to other parts of the body.
